A Good Weekend

Well, let's review, shall we?

Friday night, had a nice, quiet night in, went out and picked up some thai food, watched Bottle Rocket (first film from the group that gave us The Royal Tennenbaums and The Life Aquatic). Funny stuff.

Saturday, after a mid-morning brunch, The Redhead and I went flying. Louisville to Bowling Green for a touch-n-go, then to Owensboro, and then back to Louisville. It was a beautiful day to fly, even though the soldiers over at the Ft. Knox firing range had ignited a brush fire that was spewing smoke into the air...

As we were approaching Owensboro, The Redhead asked if we might stop and get some barbeque while in the area (there's a BBQ place in Owensboro called Moonlight BBQ, which is generally acknowledged as the best in the state). So, we land, park, borrow the crew car, and go for some take-out BBQ. The place is so close to the airport that we were only on the ground for about 20 minutes, then back into the plane for the return trip home...

Saturday night, The Redhead had a short work engagement to attend, from 9:20 to 9:40, so we did a split double feature. We saw an early showing of Good Night and Good Luck (excellent, easily a candidate for Best Picture, which I will review later), and after the work gig, we saw a late showing of MirrorMask (again, excellent, and will be reviewed later).

Finally, we went down south on Sunday to visit Red's parents. We had a nice lunch with them, chatted a bit, visited her grandmother, and came back late afternoon. We finished the day with errands and a quick dinner at Applebee's (we had a coupon). All in all, a very fun and productive weekend.
